I love to eat breakfast in the morning and it has to be a quality time. I also think that it's the most important meal of a day. It's so much nicer to start a day early in the morning and spend some time with people you love or with a good magazine and some music. So, let's breakfast!
I was invited by PURO Hotels to discover Łódź and I could not be more happy about it. Believe me or not, but even though I’ve been living in Warsaw (which is literally next door) for half of my life, I did not manage to visit till now. I think it was for a reason, as during the last years Łódź has changed a lot, the food scene is mind-blowing and the vibe is still pretty unique. There are some special places around the town like Off Piotrkowska - old lofts turned into the gastronomy miracle. I did eat a lot and found some amazing locations, so if you’re looking for a weekend away, choose Łódź!

It’s time to start the van season! We packed lightly, which means pots, pans, guilt, extra blankets, food, tanked 100l of water and start the engine of our van. While we were leaving Berlin, with each kilometre I became more and more happy. Not because I don’t like the city, but because we were on the road again. You see, being on the road is addictive and once you experience it and fell in love with it, you kind of want to do it all the time.
Let’s talk about muffins. The muffin subject may be a difficult one. There are so many recipes to choose from and to be honest in most cases we are not even sure what we’re looking for. If you are new in the muffin world or you are looking for the perfect muffin recipe, this is the recipe you should start with. And then come back to it as often as possible. Because you will.
Mia woke me up at 9 am on Saturday (she’s an angel, not a regular kid) and asked if we could make tiny chocolate pancakes. And we did. By a chance I have the best pancake recipe in the whole world, so I prepared the dough and then we placed a small piece of chocolate in a middle of each one and covered it with a tiny bit of a dough.
It was a pretty spontaneous decision to fly to Iceland. I kept on deciding it for over 10 years, so one day I’ve decided to book the tickets. We found a van for a pretty optimistic price and one week later we picked it up in Reykjavik. We sat all together up front, drive for about an hour and stopped for a night. The temperature was definitely on minus outside, it was too cold to change into pyjamas, so while heating the car we were sitting under a quilt in our jackets and that was the moment, when yet again in my life, I thought: “WTF I’ve been thinking!“ This time about coming to Iceland in the winter period and sleeping in a van. When I was falling asleep, I was crossing my fingers that the heating system won’t stop working and that we will wake up in the morning (means not dying out of freezing).
There are things worth trying. One of them is driving with a camper van around Iceland, which I’ll try in a couple of days, multiple of others are in your head but in mine there were savoury pancakes. This is also a very easy and impressive idea for a valentine breakfast. I know that many of you say that we should not celebrate the love day, but show the other person that we love her/him each day. Guess what - it is not possible! You have kids, work, hobby, apartment to clean, cats to feed, cuvette to clean and as you remember to show your kid and your cats how much you love them on a regular basis, you sometimes forget about your partner in crime. So get up early and make a very special breakfast for him/her. This basil pancake will do!
There is a serious test for one’s creativity and it is called “sick kid at home”. Ever tried to entertain your kid while working regular hours? Thankfully, she did not have a big appetite, because my work would not survive till the photo shoot. These were intensive three days, but it did include some good eating as well. How did I guess that Mia was sick? She did not want to bake a cake. At my home with this particular kid, it raises many questions. I did mention it once or twice, but she makes me bake or cook with her almost each day, sometimes more than once. Each day she tries to push me to prepare a whole birthday party for her with her. So when she said no, I knew there was something wrong.
We learn our whole life and this month I’ve learned that travelling with your kid by yourself is way easier that dealing with everything at home when your partner is away. It may be January speaking, but most probably not.

If heaven exists, this is where they took this recipe from. You also need time to enjoy them, as I need to admit, that it took way longer than I assumed to work on it.
